WHAT IS THE HALO BREAST TEST?

The HALO Breast Test is FDA approved for the collection of nipple aspirate fluid (NAF) for cytological interpretation.  HALO is a 5-minute noninvasive, repeatable breast cancer risk assessment test recommended for women, 25 and older.  Unlike ductal lavage, the HALO Breast Test is a well-tolerated way to collect NAF.  The fully-automated HALO machine massages the breasts to produce NAF, which is found in the milk ducts where 95% of all breast cancers originate.  The NAF is then analyzed for abnormal precancerous cells, that could develop into larger, potentially cancerous and lethal lesions several years later.    Please click here for more information on HALO.

Acupath Laboratories, Inc. has been designated as a HALO Preferred Laboratory for specimen processing and interpretation.  Our Board-Certified Cytopathologists have undergone extensive training and successfully completed the HALO NAF Cytology Laboratory Training Program.

  • Advanced reporting capabilities provided by Acupath allow physicians to view previous HALO cases for comparative analysis between past and present results, which provides enhanced patient monitoring, especially for atypical results.
  • Acupath reports with clearly presented, categorized results and descriptions issued to all physicians, featuring up to four colored photomicrographs of most pertinent findings, including the cellular images produced by the HALO screenings.
