MEDICAL DIRECTOR AND DEPARTMENT CHIEF OF DERMATOPATHOLOGY

As the founding director of Acupath Laboratories, Inc. and department chief of dermatopathology, Dr. George Hollenberg supervises the analysis of thousands of biopsies each year, utilizing the most    cutting-edge technology in histology and immunohistochemistry, as well as the latest advances in computerized report preparation.  He is a veteran in the fields of pathology and dermatopathology, with expertise in the areas of dysplastic nevi and melanoma.

 

Board-certified in dermatopathology and clinical and anatomic pathology, Dr. Hollenberg boasts visiting fellowships in dermatopathology from New York University Medical Center and Jefferson University Medical Center.  After receiving his medical degree from New York Medical College, he completed his residency in clinical pathology at Cornell University Medical Center and in anatomic pathology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. 

 

Dr. Hollenberg’s proficiency in dermatopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology has led him to many prominent positions at diagnostic laboratories and hospitals; he served as a dermatopathologist for Quest Diagnostics and director of laboratories for HSL Laboratories, Mount Vernon Hospital, and St. Barnabas Hospital.     

 

Moreover, Dr. Hollenberg is currently a consultant in dermatopathology for North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset and an assistant professor in dermatology at Stony Brook University Medical Center.  He has been named a fellow of the College of American Pathologists, and a member of the American Society of Dermatopathology, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Medical Association and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. 

 

Often contacted by editors for his expertise in dermatopathology, Dr. Hollenberg has written dozens of articles on skin and has had his work published in various acclaimed medical journals and publications.  


HUI TSOU, MD

HUI C. TSOU, MD, FCAP
DERMATOPATHOLOGIST

Board-certified in dermatopathology and anatomic pathology, Dr. Hui C. Tsou serves as a dermatopathologist for Acupath Laboratories, Inc.  

 

Dr. Tsou’s vast experience includes appointments at the Department of Veterans AffairsMedical Center, New York University (NYU) Medical Center, Continuum Healthcare System, and Bendiner & Schlesinger, Inc.  Additionally, while an assistant professor in the Department of Dermatology at Columbia University College of Medicine, she worked on cancer genetics, specializing in skin cancers.  Dr. Tsou fulfilled a dermatopathology fellowship at the prestigious Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathlogy, St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital, as well as a surgical pathology fellowship at NYU Medical Center.  She is currently a member of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Human Genetics.

Dr. Tsou received her M.D. from Jinan University Medical College, Guangzhou, China and her MS in human nutrition from Columbia University.


OLGA FALKOWSKI, MD

OLGA FALKOWSKI, MD
DIRECTOR OF GENETICS AND ASSOCIATE MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Olga Falkowski serves as the director of genetics and associate medical director of Acupath Laboratories, Inc.  She is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Prior to joining Acupath, Dr. Falkowski was the attending pathologist at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center.  She fulfilled a surgical fellowship at Tisch Hospital, at New York University School of Medicine, followed by a gastrointestinal fellowship at Harvard Medical School. She completed an observership at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in genitourinary pathology.  After she received her medical degree from the First Moscow Medical School in Russia, Dr. Falkowski completed a residency in general pathology, there.  Subsequently, she fulfilled her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, University Hospital of Columbia University.

As part of her pathology work, Dr. Falkowski has served as an assistant professor at New York University School of Medicine, Hofstra University, as well as Albert Einstein College of Medicine, respectively.  She is currently a member of the College of American Pathologists and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.  In addition, Dr. Falkowski is a noted author and lecturer.


SHERIF IBRAHIM, MD, PHD
CUTANEOUS LYMPHOMA DIVISION

Board-certified in hematopathology, as well as anatomic and clinical pathology, Dr. Sherif Ibrahim serves as a consultant hematopathologist for Acupath Laboratories, Inc. where he is responsible for the diagnosis of lymph node and potential lymphoma cases.  In addition to his work at Acupath, he is currently the director of the hematopathology and molecular pathology section at New York University School of Medicine, Department of Pathology.

Instrumental in the development of the JAK2 assay, Dr. Ibrahim has received great recognition for his work.  After completing his residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Ibrahim fulfilled a hematopathology fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas in Houston.  There, he was awarded an institutional grant to study the mechanisms involved in T-cell anergy in cases of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.  Previously, Dr. Ibrahim was named an immunopathology fellow at the highly-esteemed Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.  He received his medical degree from the Al-Azhar University School of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt.
